Because the Mediterranean vineyard not only comes from the past, but also holds a future. What nourishes it and will certainly not be lacking, is having the sea nearby. The Mediterranean winds from the northwest are charged with humidity to create an ever-present dew. This effect is almost like a natural air conditioning machine that relieves the plants of stress.<\/p>\n<p>At Abargues, we continue to use centuries-old viticulture techniques to face these climatic challenges, taking advantage of the wisdom accumulated over the course of ages. We are well aware that the most essential task is to give the plant what it truly needs, aiming to increase the quality of the crop while taking care of our surroundings and with the utmost respect for the environment. Native, low-density, ancient varieties that are happy in the soils where they belong, pruning that helps protect them from the heat and benefit from the maximum dew on the epidermis of the plants. All these important factors &#8211; and so very much a part of our identity &#8211; favor us, even if the climate changes.<\/p>\n<p>The vines have already &#8220;wept&#8221; and the first buds have also emerged, with their tiny grapes already appearing. Perhaps a little earlier than normal. Rainfall patterns are changing and with warmer temperatures, the natural process of the plants is slightly accelerated. This could bring the grape harvest along a bit sooner. But we are closely watching them all the more. The anticipation is immense, as always. And also, of course, we are also eager for some more rain to replenish the reserves.<\/p>\n<p>Soon the buds will grow, evolving into small promises.
