Iron and Rock, a Love Story… FIERROCA.

Do you know about our smallest and most special vineyard, what France has classified for centuries as Premier Grand Cru? The term grand cru comes from French and is used to designate an estate or a specific vineyard with soils so special (in this case, ferro-clay-limestone soils) that they give rise to extraordinarily high-quality, highly original, and unique wines. Thanks to the particular characteristics of the terrain, this wine has unique details that transport you to the place, distancing itself from wines created by recipe, style, or globalization.

At the heart of our Abargues estate, we weave a mosaic of soils and orientations. Each plot whispers its own story to us. The summit of the estate, the highest plot, is adorned with three elongated terraces and holds a singular treasure: a delicate, subtle wine, yet with a vibrant soul and intensity, rich in tannins, strength, and energy.

This differentiation in soil and orientation led us to consider aging this wine separately, like one who nurtures a secret with the hope of seeing it flourish. And when we finally did, the result was so unique, so full of character, that it deserved to be bottled separately, like a work of art claiming its own place in the world.

Fierroca is more than a vineyard: it is a magical corner, a breath of the earth that sings its uniqueness with every ray of sunshine that caresses it. Its essence is forged in the ancestral strength of the soils, a powerful dance between iron and rock that gives it life and character. From this union, its name emerges—Fierroca, a tribute to its indomitable soul and the history contained within its depths. It is an unparalleled place where nature writes poetry in every vine that grows.

This wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation (with indigenous yeasts from the area) and malolactic fermentation in small 2500-liter tanks. It is then aged in 1000-liter foudres and 500-liter barrels of Allier French oak, refining in them for 12 months until bottling.

Fierroca offers a beautiful expression of scrubland, cypress, lavender, damp earth, and shaded woodland. With a delicate and vibrant mouthfeel that evokes ferric soils and sanguine notes. Delicate and sharp tannins. A wine of great verticality, prepared to age for many years. It is the highest-rated red wine of the DOP Alicante, with 96 points from Parker and Guía Peñín.
